Kindness and Good Works
By Bill Schaeffer
Theology, and belief,
separates one thing from another.
Kindness and good works bring
different things together.
Theology brings division.
Good works builds unity.
Theology, and belief, is
based on separation, hatred and fear.
Kindness and good work is
based on union, compassion and love.
Ask yourself,
Do you want to focus your
life on separation, or unity?
Do you want to emphasize how
things are different
Or how they are the same?
Forget Theology. Leave Theology to others.
Meditate on kindness and good
works, and concentrate on love.
We can never ultimately prove
to where it is we go, nor even where it is from whence we have come. We cannot even prove who, if anyone, is
responsible for our life, or where they might be found. Why spend time worrying about questions that
cannot ever be resolved?
But we can tell, with
absolute certainty, that if we have given food, or drink, or clean clothes, to
someone then it has made their life better.
We see them enjoy the food, enjoy bathing and refreshment and new clean
clothes. We see them emerge refreshed
from a long rest on a clean soft bed and we know, without proof, that they are
happier, and their life is better, and our life is better also.

When it is time to die, you
will die.
And all you really know is
what you have experienced.
If life has gone well enough
while you are alive, then it will proceed just fine as you die.
The wisdom of the Universe is
infinite and eternal and we are just small factors in a huge equation that has
been improving itself for millennium longer than we can even possibly imagine.
Relax. Everything is going according to plan.
What is the hurry? The sooner you “arrive,” the sooner you die!
Keep your eye on the ball,
concentrate on process and leave the results to take care of themselves. Enjoy the game. Enjoy the struggle. Embrace the suffering.
Live fully and fully in the
moment.
Relax. Everything is ok.
Concentrate on kindness,
compassion, forgiveness, love, peace, grace, stillness, and the gentle hum of
life. Everything else will take care
of itself.
