No Monkey Business
An explanation for non
Christians why Evangelical Born Again Christians must repudiate Darwin’s Theory
of Evolution.
By Bill Schaeffer on December

1) In the Evangelical Christian interpretation of the Genesis story: When Adam and Eve
disobeyed the Lord God, and ate of the fruit of the tree of knowledge, they
were cast out of the Garden of Eden and were cursed with the Original Sin. The punishment was that Woman would bear her
children with great pain, Man would be forced to earn a living by the sweat of
his brow, and there would forever be enmity between men and women.
2) This Original Sin has been
passed down to all humanity from Adam and Eve.
3) According to St. Augustine,
the method of transmission is in the man’s sperm.
4) Also, we are all born with
an immortal soul that will survive us, after we die.
5) This soul will eventually
go to either Heaven or Hell, after we die.
6) Heaven is a very pleasant
and desirable place for your soul to spend eternity. Your soul can only get into Heaven if your
sins have been forgiven. Only Jesus can
forgive your sins.
7) Hell is a very unpleasant
place for your soul to spend eternity. “Suffering
eternal torment in the Lake of Fire,” is a common description. If you have not been forgiven of your sins,
your soul will go to Hell. Only if you
believe in Jesus and ask Him to forgive your sins is it possible the your sins
might be forgiven. Only then can you
escape going to Hell.
8) Jesus was conceived by the
Holy Spirit and not by a mortal man. His
mother was a Virgin and He alone of all humanity was born without Original Sin.
9) The ONLY way our immortal
soul can get into Heaven is by the Grace of Jesus Christ who died on the cross
to save our sins. He sacrificed His
life so that God would forgive our sins, and
our Original Sin.
10) Only the belief in Jesus
can remove the Original Sin because He was born without Original Sin. Actually, it would be more accurate to say
that belief in Jesus can remove Original Sin because He is The Christ, The Son
of God, The Messiah, and the Lord of the World on his Second Coming. Because of His divine nature, He can remove
our sin. The fact that He was born
without Original Sin is just confirmation of His Divine Nature.
11) Jesus triumphing over
death, when He was raised from the dead after three days, is the ultimate proof
of His divine nature and the divine truth of His philosophy. “After 40 days He ascended into Heaven and
sits at the right had of God the Father Almighty. He is the one who judges the quick and the
dead…”
12) We need to have Faith in
Jesus so that Jesus will forgive our sins and we might obtain Eternal Life for
our Immortal Soul.
13) In this metaphysical system, EVEN If YOU LIVE A PERFECT LIFE AND HAVE NOT COMMITTED ANY SINFUL BEHAVIOR, YOU ARE STILL STAINED WITH ORIGINAL SIN AND YOU STILL NEED THE FORGIVENESS OF JESUS TO REMOVE THAT SIN, BEFORE YOU CAN GET INTO HEAVEN.
14) If, however, the Garden
of Eden Story is NOT Literally True, then
A) There was no Adam and Eve.
B) There is no Original Sin, because Adam and Eve were
not there to give it to us.
C) There is no absolutely compelling reason for Jesus to have died on the
cross, because there is no
Original Sin to forgive.
Original Sin to forgive.
Reminder: Original Sin is the
most critical Sin. It is conceivable,
but unlikely, to not commit any other sins in a lifetime. It is extraordinarily unlikely that someone
would never commit a single sin during their lifetime, but if they did, they
would STILL have to be forgiven of the Original Sin of Adam and Eve before they
could get their soul into Heaven.
15) To remove the single, absolutely compelling, metaphysical reason for Jesus the Christ’s Death on the Cross critically compromises the
logical underpinning of Orthodox Christian Theology.
16) To prevent having to
answer that uncomfortable challenge, Darwinism must be discredited and
Creationism must be accepted as an alternative Scientific explanation of the
origin of the world.
17) Note: If we do accept
Darwinism and discount the Garden of Eden myth as being “Spiritual Truth, but
not Literal Truth,” this does not necessarily compromise who Jesus actually
was, or what he actually said. It just
forces us to reevaluate the Theological Constructs that support that particular
Worldview. Ultimately, the result can
only be positive because it will eventually bring us closer to Truth. And as we’ve all been told, “Know the
Truth and the Truth will set you free.”
