The Roman Empire was destroyed by the Christian Church

Comment on a video interview with George Will

The Roman Empire was not destroyed by decadence. The Roman Empire was destroyed by the Christian Church. Once the Christian Church became the State religion, it began a well known campaign of the destruction of Roman culture. Every university was closed and public education ceased. Every library was burned and all the books were destroyed. In fact, EVERY SINGLE BOOK in the entire Roman empire was burned and destroyed by the Christian Church. The only literature that survived this destruction (which took almost one hundred years) survived outside the boundaries of the Roman Empire. For almost one thousand years, the only book that existed in all of Europe was the Christian Bible. It was not until the Renaissance when these ancient books were discovered and reintroduced into Europe. During the middle ages, the only people that could read were the clergy. At the time of Augustus, even Roman peasants could read and write. During the middle ages, not even kings and queens knew how to read and write. The Roman Empire was NOT destroyed by decadence. The Roman Empire was consciously destroyed by the Christian Church. This is a FACT.
