In the USA. the medical profession is a capitalist, profit motivated, institution. The care of the patients is not paramount. PROFIT is the motive.
In 2014, I had a medical "emergency." I noticed that my intestine was "poking out" through my intestinal wall on the right side of my body. I needed hernia surgery.
Presumably, since my insurance was "Obama Care," I was given a surgery date that was 2.5 - 3 months in the future.. Because of economic considerations I would have to wait over TWO MONTHS for a life saving surgery.
Fearing the worst, I invented a plan.
I told my "Doctor" that I was in intense pain and needed relief. I did this with the conscious intent of "remaining motionless" for three months.
So, I got a prescription and took it "religiously" for two months. For two months, I laid on my bed and watched DVD movies to preserve my health in an emergency, being heavily sedated on prescription pain killers. Without this "help," I would not have survived. My intestine was "poking out" from my intestinal wall the entire time. If it had become "twisted," it would have been a life threatening emergency. Nobody in the medical profession was the least bit concerned. My "medical emergency" was just an "economic investment."
Eventually, I had the surgery and I recovered.
The surgery was successful. Curiously, I had an extreme reaction to the anesthesia and for 36 hours, and was vomiting profusely. After THAT miserable experience, I felt no pain, and was healed miraculously.
However, capitalist economic market forces kept me waiting for TWO AND A HALF MONTHS for a life saving surgery. Only my clever, drug induced catatonia, kept me alive during that wait.
The Medical Profession in USA America is corrupt and violates the Hippocratic Oath.
TRUTH.
