The End of Faith

After the Christian Church assumed control of the Roman Empire (circa 500 A.D.), it began a campaign of cultural destruction that lasted for over a hundred years. All the Universities were closed and public education stopped. All the libraries were closed and all the books were destroyed. In fact, every single book in the Roman Empire was destroyed, except for the bible. EVERY SINGLE BOOK In THE ENTIRE ROMAN EMPIRE WAS BURNED OR DESTROYED. For almost one thousand years, the only book that existed in all of Europe was the bible. The only books that survived were preserved OUTSIDE the boundaries of the Roman Empire. It was not until the Renaissance that these books were discovered and returned to Europe. During the time of Augustus, even peasants could read and write. During the middle ages, not even the kings and queens of Europe could read and write. "For almost one thousand years, the only book that existed in all of Europe was the bible ."
