Response to a comment on facebook about "having to work 8 hours every day" is good for society.
J. T. --- I understand the basic premise of your argument to be: if everybody gets personal freedom and personal fulfillment then nobody will be available to do the "real work" and society as we know it will collapse. My response is that is not necessarily true. We only work 8 or 10 or 12 hours a day because that is the best way to extract the most profit from the worker -- it has nothing to do with building a better society. Maybe if people worked 4 hours a day, we could still provide goods and services and ALSO have a happy life. Maybe if people were able to self organize the work, there would be a more efficient and humane form of regulation or government organization. However, it would probably be more difficult to amass great stores of wealth and property. It might be more difficult for the obscenely rich to continue the practice, but in my opinion THAT itself would be for the betterment of all society. "Power to the People.
