Out of the 10 billion people you will have shared this planet with while you were alive --
Which 150 are the most important?
What are the odds?
150/10,000,000,000 =
15 / 1,000,000,000 =
1/666,666,666

The way I arrived at ten billion:
ReplyDeleteThere are presently 7.5 billion people on Earth. If you live a full life of 60 - 70 years, half those people will probably have died and been replaced with new young babies. Over your life span there are probably ten billion people that you have shared this Earth with.
How I got 150:
100 - 150 is pretty much the limit of the number of people that a group can contain where all members feel like they really know all other members of the group.
We can only maintain about 100 - 150 relationships at any one time.
The calculation is purely serendipitous and the only reason I published this description is because of the surprise at seeing 666 repeating number as part of the answer.
